PUPPY TIME!

The Petersons have finally found their puppy! We have been thinking about getting one for some time, and now that we are moving into a place that allows dogs, the time was right for puppy purchasin'.
This little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel girl is 10 weeks old, and she is definitely the runt of her litter. She is the only white and brown one, and no one wanted her because she only has a brown ring around one eye instead of both. I think it makes her look kind of like a pirate. But she is really sweet, and lots of fun.
Sarah and I put down a deposit for the puppy, so that the owners will hang onto her for us until we are settled into our new place. She is so cute, and we already love her.

A Visit from my Parents!

My parents came for a visit to DC. It was so fun to take them around town and show them all the sights. Plus, Sarah and I ate for free. Can't beat that! Here's a picture of us and Big George outside the GWU law school.
We also went to Mt. Vernon with my folks, which was pretty fun. It was really nice to be able to take my parents around some of these places. Plus, we went to Five Guys Burgers and Fries afterwards. Us Petersons love to eat.
Here's another picture of us at Mt. Vernon. The place is huge, and they had a really cool museum. George Washington was a pretty amazing guy. I'm glad I decided to go to his university.
And no trip to DC would be complete without a trip to Ben's Chili Bowl. This place is amazing. If you go, definitely get the chili cheese fries, and the chili half-smoke. Apparently, it's Bill Cosby's favorite.

Panama!

Here are a few photos from our awesome trip to Panama. It was really hot and sticky, but we still managed to have a fun time. Here's the view out of our hotel room, which gives you a pretty good idea of what Panama City looks like.
We went on a trip to Monkey Island, which was pretty cool, since the monkeys climbed right up into the boat (after being coaxed inside with mango slices). They pretty much surrounded our boat and yelled at us, so it was fun. We also saw crocodiles, lizards, parrots, sloths, and howler monkeys on our boat tour.
Here we are pretending to be staying at some fancy hotel in an area called Gamboa. It's really nice and gives you a good view of the rain forest.
Here we are at the recently opened Panama Temple. It is an awesome building.
And no photo montage of Panama would be complete without a shot of the canal. Behold it in all its glory! It may not look like much, but the Panamanians make bank off this thing. So that was our trip to Panama in short. It was lots of fun, but it's nice to be back home in the states.

The Finals Period Begins!

Well folks, finals time is upon us. The next two weeks of my life will be somewhat busy and stressful, but after that, I get to go on vacation to Panama! Hooray. Due to the labor-intensive nature of law school finals, you won't be hearing from me for a while. So I figured I would leave you a link to an equally entertaining blog. Cherry Blossom Festival

Sarah and I went out to the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC this weekend. It was pretty fun, although it was really windy and really crowded.
Here's an artsy picture that Sarah took. It came out pretty good considering my stinky camera.
Sarah and I feel really lucky ot be here in DC, where so many exciting things are going on all the time.

And the best part of all, Alex Trebek was the grand marshal of the parade! We had already been having an awesome day, but this just daily doubled it.

Willy Wonka Cupcakes

Sarah volunteered to help out at her brother's play by selling cupcakes. The play was Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, so we went with chocolate cupcakes with purple and green frosting.
We ended up making over 150 cupcakes, and we sold almost all of them. I was hoping we could spend it on groceries, but we'll probably end up buying more shoes. (Sarah is looking over my shoulder and she says this is not true).
Here's our awesome cupcake stand. We sold chocolate cake with vanilla frosting, and yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

Everything We Have Eaten In The Past Month

Sorry it's been a while since we have posted anything. Sarah and I have both been really busy. Sarah has started a training program at work, and I have been pretty busy with Law School. However, I had the last week off for Spring Break, so I was able to catch up on naps. And, of course, Sarah and I were still able to find time to cook and to bake. This first picture is of some brownie cupcakes that Sarah made for Valentine's Day. They were pretty delicious.

I tried my hand at crepes for breakfast one morning, and they turned out pretty well. This one had raspberries, lemon zest, and powdered sugar, which was pretty tasty. The batter takes a while to make, but they're worth it.

One night during Spring Break, I decided to try making Cuban food, which turned out alright. I made a tropical-seasoned pork chop with an orange and lime glaze, with some yellow rice. It wasn't half bad. I also put up some Christmas lights to give it that authentic Hispanic restaurant feel.

For dessert, I was a little ambitious and made churros. Since I haven't had a good churro since Disneyland, I figured it was time to make my own. This is the dough that I had to make. It was massive, eggy, sticky, and ridiculous to make, but it turned out pretty good. It's worth it if you're a foodie like me and Sarah.

I gues this is the Spanish style of churros, because I made it with some chocolate dipping sauce. It was pretty much the greatest thing I have ever made in my life. Don't worry, I have plenty of dough in the freezer, so if you want some, come on over.
